The Cheshire Cat Motel
Gold Coast
At a glance
The Cheshire Cat Motel is a boutique accommodation stay on the ocean side of Palm Beach, at 1005 Gold Coast Highway. Its setting combines the character of a reworked beachside motel with a relaxed coastal mood, placing guests within a short walk of the sand, local cafes, independent eateries and nearby watering holes.
The property offers six queen rooms and a two-bedroom apartment, giving the accommodation a compact and considered feel. Each space is presented with nostalgic design details and pared-back comfort, reflecting the motel’s connection to Palm Beach’s older beach culture while keeping the overall experience contemporary. A contactless guest model adds to the independent, low-key style of the stay.
Shared facilities are centred on Le Plunge, a pool deck with a deep pool and sunbeds. Palm trees, terracotta tones and the old motel sign give the area a distinctly retro coastal character. It is available to in-house guests and suits a quiet swim, a break between beach outings or an afternoon spent outside.
The Terrace provides a second communal setting, with shaded outdoor space, umbrella trees, wall lighting and an outdoor rain shower. The area is intended for relaxing, conversation or co-working, with a casual atmosphere that moves from daytime use into the evening. Shoes-optional styling and simple outdoor facilities reinforce the motel’s easygoing Palm Beach character.
The nearest beach entrance is about 200 metres away, with no major road crossing required on the walk. Palm Beach’s growing collection of locally run cafes, restaurants and bars is also within a few minutes on foot. The motel is around 11 minutes by car from Gold Coast Airport and about 12 minutes from Burleigh Heads, making it practical for a coastal break, a beach-focused weekend or a self-contained stay near the southern Gold Coast.
